"It's MY book!"

I just had the craziest, most wonderful experience. I met a man at work, an older gentleman, foreign, but I couldn't place where, and the first thing he said to me was "I love your smile" I said "thanks, I love your's too!" He was very nice and we were talking about his children, 2 doctors, an attorney and a PhD. He asked about mine, I told them I had 2 small kids. He asked if I was married, I told him I was divorced, he said that he was too. He was very nice, kept telling me how great I was and how we would get married if only I was a little older. He invited me to his house and told me he would pay for my kids to go to medical school and be doctors like his kids. He asked if I went to church, I told him that yes, I do go to church, he asked where, I told him I am Mormon, and he started yelling "shut up! Shut up!" I answered "no I really am." He says "I translated the Book of Mormon all the way to Alma, and I translated the Pearl of Great Price!" Into what language? "Arabic!" What? Really? Then he related his story to me. He's originally from Lebanon, and back in the 80's they were killing all the Americans and Arab Christians, and so for 3 1/2 months, he hid in his basement with 2 LDS Americans and all they had was the Book of Mormon and the Pearl of Great Price, so they started translating them. While they were translating, he stopped and told the Americans, "this is my book now." When they asked why he said "this book was written in my ancient language and in ancient Egyptian." He then started reciting to me the ancient Egyptian alphabet. So they escape Lebanon and he emigrate to the US and eventually finds the 2 guys he was in the basement with and him and his whole family get baptized and join the church! This was such an amazing experience for me because even though I believe with all my heart that the Book of Mormon is true, having experiences where my perspective can be added onto and my eyes opened in unexpected ways is a beautiful thing.

Anyway, he gave me his phone number and told me that he was going to come bear his testimony in my ward and that we are now family and that my children are now his children. I'm so grateful to the Lord for arranging this meeting, and for the added measure of knowledge that he granted me through this really nice man. What an amazing experience.
