D&C 89:4 - Conspiracy

89:4 - The Lord begins speaking and addresses a very interesting concept saying, “In consequence of evils and desgins which do and will exist in the hearts of conspiring men in the last days, I have warned you, and forewarned you, by giving unto you this word of wisdom by revelation.” Conspiring men and health? How is that connected? If we look at ancient conspiracy, we see murder, war, power struggles, but for the most part, the food, water, and wine were not a part of the way in which one could gain power. The IM specifically addresses the issue of tobacco marketing their wares when they knew full well the risks, but I think, personally that there is a more widespread and even more dangerous health related conspiracy at work in our world today. I’m not going to go into detail with it because this is about God’s word, but mine, but much of it is talked about later on in the section, so I think that counts. I’ve worked in medicine for all of my adult life, and I like to watch patterns, one of the patterns that I noticed while working in healthcare is that people are getting sicker, younger than expected. I watched a steady decline in the quality of people’s diet and an increase in the frequency and severity of their illnesses. I also worked at a clinic in Utah for a few years and I noticed that in comparison to where I worked before in California, the patients were typically much older, healthier and fully function, living into their late 90s, whereas in California life expectance was in the 70s and with a terrible quality of life leading up to death. The difference, I believe, is that in Utah, the WoW was observed and in California, for the most part, it was not. I’ve noticed that as people ate a more processed diet, they became sicker, younger, while those eating a more WoW based diet were healthier, longer. I have even noticed in myself that eating poor qualities and quantities of food makes me tired, grumpy, irritable, and ill. But I still eat it? Why because I don’t really know what else to do, and it tastes good (going back to the addiction problem). But I’ve also noticed and learned that these companies add special chemicals to their foods that triggers certain hormones in the brain to react a certain way so that the people who eat them become addicted to them, physiologically. I’ve even read many studies that suggest that sugar and other artificial sweeteners are more addictive to the brain than either heroin or cocaine, and I believe that to be true, just with my own life long, unsuccessful battle against sugar and processed food. I watched a documentary about the marketing of processed food to children and the effect that that is having in sales, health, and wellbeing. They reference the same marketing strategies used by the tobacco companies to sell and addict cigarettes to kids decades ago. So if the food companies are purposely making the unhealthy food more addicting and that in turn is making us more sick, that’s a pretty straight forward conspiracy, kind of a vanilla one at that, it’s really not that hard to figure out and change, and honestly, a company making their product addicting to their customers is really a common sense approach to business. I don’t think that healthcare and the food industry started out with a blood deal to help each other make money by destroying people’s lives, but I think once it was obviously happening, somewhere the powers that be decided to have their hands in each other’s pockets all the way to the bank. Now don’t get me wrong, I work in health care still and I believe that modern medicine is a miracle and has changed the face of the world; however there are many facets that are overdone to the extent that it’s ridiculous. People get sick, many times because of the food that they eat, and then they go to the doctor who prescribes them medicine for their problem, which usually isn’t to cure the issue, only mask the symptoms. Why don’t they prescribe a better plant based diet as the cure? Because the medical school that they attended was funded by pharmaceutical companies that only make money if their graduates prescribe their medications. Big Pharma makes no money when a better diet is prescribed. What is the most profitable industry in the world? Pharmaceuticals. So you have a person who is addicted to the chemicals in the food that is poisoning them who gets sick and is given a medicine that in turn gives them side effects that is “solved” by taking another medicine . That person then continues to get sick, albeit slower than before the medicines, because their diet hasn’t changed so they get admitted to the hospital where they are fed the same exactly poison that got them there in the first place. While in the hospital they develop a staph infection or bed sores or a rash or a blood clot or swelling or depression or any other myriad of things that happen here which is treated by, that’s right, more medicine or even surgery. It’s a mess, how’s that for a conspiracy? I don’t think that the vast majority of healthcare providers want people to get sicker so that they can make money, I certainly don’t, but I believe that at the top, yes, that’s the decision that is being made, because why else would conspiring men be dictating our health? The IM says, “Lawsuits against American tobacco companies in the last part of the 20th century made it clear that owners and employees of these companies conspired to hide the dangers of their products. President David O. McKay observed the gradual growth of these evils in his lifetime: ‘The purport of that (revelation) impressed me in the twenties and the thirties of this century. I just ask you… to recall the methods employed by certain tobacco interests to induce women to smoke cigarettes. You remember how insidiously they launched their plan. First, by saying that it would reduce weight. They had a slogan: ‘Take a cigarette instead of a sweet.’ Later, some of us who like the theatre, noticed that they would have a young lady light the gentleman’s cigarette. Following this a woman’s hand would be shown on billboards lighting or taking a cigarette. A year or two passed and soon they were brazen enough to show the lady on screen or on the billboard smoking the cigarette… Parents meekly submit to this and later deplore the fact when their children are hopeless cigarette addicts.’ Many through the years have likewise conspired or contributed to making the use of alcohol, coffee, tea, other forms of tobacco, and drugs more socially acceptable.”
